Welcome to ReadingLab

Mission and Research
Our mission is to understand how people read, how children learn to read, and ultimately how to help every person to be a proficient reader. Some of the on-going projects include:
- Eye movements in reading English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean
- Using eye movements as indicators of dysfluencies and comprehension difficulties
- Eye movements of young readers and their development
- Pre-reading children's understanding of the alphabet and the alphabetic principle
- Beginning readers' creative spelling and its cognitive and linguistic basis
- Phonological awareness and its development across languages
- Children's understanding of intentionality in reading and nonreading situations
